HL7 Norway ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal data when you visit our website, register for, or participate in the Norwegian FHIR Hackathon 2026.
Our processing of personal data complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Norwegian privacy legislation.

The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
- Organization: HL7 Norge (HL7 Norway).
Contact Person: Thomas Tveit Rosenlund.
What Personal Data We Collect and Why
We collect and process personal data for specific purposes related to organizing the event:
- Registration Data: When registration opens on September 21, 2026, we will collect data via our sign-up form. This typically includes your name, email address, organization/employer, professional role (e.g., developer, architect, healthcare professional), and your preferred hackathon track.
- Purpose: To manage event capacity, customize track materials, and send you essential updates (such as the invitation to the online kick-off meeting on November 2, 2026).
- Dietary Requirements: We may collect information about food allergies or dietary preferences for catering purposes at the venue (Rebel in Oslo).
- Photography and Media: As this is an in-person event, photographs and video recordings may be taken during the hackathon on November 9, 2026.
- Purpose: Documenting the event and promoting future hackathons (similar to the publication of pictures from the 2025 event).
Legal Basis for Processing
process your data based on the following legal grounds under GDPR Article 6:
- Performance of a Contract / Agreement: Processing your registration is necessary to fulfill your request to participate in the free hackathon.
- Legitimate Interests: We photograph and document the event to showcase the community's work, which is in our legitimate interest to promote healthcare interoperability in Norway. You can always object to being photographed.
- Consent: If we collect sensitive information, such as dietary health restrictions, we will ask for your explicit consent.
Data Sharing and Co-hosts
The Norwegian FHIR Hackathon is organized in cooperation with several partners, including NHN, Helsedirektoratet, Bedredelt, NAV, NoMA, IHE Norge, and EHiN.
- Aggregated or necessary participant lists may be shared with track leads from these organizations to optimize the technical execution of the tracks.
- We do not sell, rent, or distribute your personal data to unauthorized third parties.
Data Retention
- Registration details will be stored for as long as necessary to manage the 2026 event, handle post-event follow-ups, and distribute summaries or surveys. Data will be deleted or anonymized securely after the event cycle is completed.
- Media/Pictures published on our GitHub/Implementation Guide pages will remain online as part of historical event archives unless a deletion request is received.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Request rectification of inaccurate data or erasure of your data ("the right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data (e.g., asking us not to use photos where you are visible).
- Withdraw your consent at any time for data processed based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact the event administration. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
